Voice care
RelaxedWatching for signs of strain: pitch pushed too high, voice breaks, a rougher or breathier sound, and very loud speech.

Getting started
- Set up. Use headphones in a quiet room, with the mic about an arm's length away (20β30 cm).
- Pick a target. Open Settings and set your target pitch. Many people aim for about 180β200 Hz for a feminine voice or 110β130 Hz for a masculine one. There's no rush.
- Warm up. Press Start microphone, allow access, then hum "mm" and slide gently up and down. The chart follows you.
- Practice. Talk or read aloud and keep the line inside your target band. Reading practice gives you scripts and pointers after each sentence.
- Track it. Record a session in the Practice tab each time. The Report tab turns them into a progress chart, tips and a PDF.
- Be kind to your voice. Short daily sessions of 10β20 minutes work best. If Voice care says Take a break, or your throat hurts, stop and rest.

Tips
How to read it. Typical speaking pitch is about 85β155 Hz for men and 165β255 Hz for women. The default bands treat under 145 Hz as masculine, 145β175 Hz as androgynous, and above 175 Hz as feminine. Many trainers aim for a speaking average around 180β200 Hz. Adjust the bands to match your coach or goals.
Pitch is only half of it. Listeners rely heavily on resonance, the "size" of the space the voice rings in. A brighter, more forward sound reads more feminine even at the same pitch. The brightness meter gives a rough sense of this. Compare it on the same vowel ("ee" or "ah") rather than across different words.
Go easy on your voice. Avoid pushing pitch up with throat tension. Short, frequent sessions work better than long ones. The voice care panel is an estimate from your microphone, not a medical check. Stop if your throat hurts or feels hoarse, and consider a speech-language pathologist who works with gender-affirming voice.
